[스타뉴스=윤상근 기자] YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER is setting new records in K-pop with their debut.

According to Spotify, ‘BATTER UP’ surpassed 10 million streams on December 5th (local time), achieving this milestone in just 10 days after its debut. This is the fastest record for any K-pop girl group debut song.

Moreover, Spotify’s monthly listeners (over the last 28 days) exceeded 1 million just 6 days after the release. This is the fastest pace among K-pop girl groups, reflecting the solid trust of global fans in BABYMONSTER’s music and abilities, as well as their expanding fan base worldwide.

These achievements were anticipated through various indicators. Right after its release, ‘BATTER UP’ dominated the iTunes charts in 21 countries, securing a top position in the worldwide chart. It also topped China’s largest music site QQ Music in the ‘Music Index Chart’ and ‘Rising Daily Chart’.

BABYMONSTER is also setting records on YouTube, not just with their music but also with their music video. The ‘BATTER UP’ music video surpassed 22.59 million views in just one day, setting a new record for the highest views in 24 hours for a K-pop debut song music video. It continued to dominate, securing the number one spot on the Global YouTube Daily Popular Music Video Chart for five consecutive days and eventually topping the weekly chart.

BABYMONSTER has quickly made their mark on the Billboard main charts as well. ‘BATTER UP’ entered the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global (Billboard Global Excl. U.S) charts at 101st and 49th respectively. Furthermore, it achieved 5th place on the ‘World Digital Song Sales Chart’ and 1st place on ‘LyricFind Global’, successfully charting in a total of four categories and making their presence known in the global music market.
