[OSEN=선미경 기자] YG’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER gifted a special cover to celebrate their first Christmas with global fans.

 

On the 20th, YG Entertainment posted ‘BABYMONSTER – ‘Christmas Without You’ COVER (SPECIAL PRESENT)’ on their official social media. It’s a video that reinterprets the original song by Ava Max with BABYMONSTER’s unique sentiment.

 

Amidst a Christmas atmosphere created by charming lighting and props, BABYMONSTER, dressed in white and red tone outfits, captivated the listeners with their cozy vocal tone. Their solid vocal ability was once again felt in the rhythmic accompaniment and the thrilling high notes perfectly executed in the latter part of the song.

 

The arrangement, infused with BABYMONSTER’s unique personality and YG’s hip-hop DNA, provided a fresh fun to music fans. Especially, the rap parts by RUKA and ASA seamlessly blended into the members’ vocals, completing it with a special chemistry.

 

Cute choreography and gestures using various props like trees and gift boxes showcased their innocent and lovely charm. The members shouting “Merry Christmas” offered a feel-good energy, bringing smiles to the audience.

 

‘BATTER UP,’ released on November 27th by BABYMONSTER, swept the No.1 spot in the iTunes cumulative song charts in 21 countries upon debut, reaching the top ranks of the worldwide chart. It also secured the 101st and 49th places in the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global (Billboard Global Excl. U.S) charts, respectively. On Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, it broke the record for the fastest 10 million streams by a K-pop girl group debut song within ten days.
