[뉴스엔=하지원 기자] YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER has announced its grand entrance as the “monster rookie” set to change the global music scene, achieving a new record of 100 million views in the shortest time for a K-Pop girl group debut song with their official debut track “SHEESH.”

According to YG Entertainment on April 11, the music video for BABYMONSTER’s official debut song “SHEESH” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube around 11:35 AM that day. Released on the 1st, it took about 10 days to reach this milestone, shattering the previous record held by “BATTER UP” for the fastest K-Pop girl group debut MV to reach 100 million views (18 days) by a whopping 8 days.

This marks the fastest pace for a music video by a K-Pop artist who debuted after 2017. Expanding the scope to all-time K-Pop girl groups, BLACKPINK is the only artist to achieve 100 million views faster than “SHEESH.” It’s a clear indication that BABYMONSTER is on its way to becoming the next ‘YouTube Queen,’ following in BLACKPINK’s footsteps.

One indicator of a loyal fandom, YouTube subscribers, also exceeded 5 million on the 10th. The full group’s official debut has triggered a rapid expansion of their global fandom. Since the release of their first mini album [BABYMONS7ER] on the 1st, they have attracted more than 390,000 subscribers in just 9 days, with the total view count soaring past 1.4 billion.

As a result, BABYMONSTER now has three music videos with over 100 million views, including two pre-debut tracks. “BATTER UP” quickly surpassed 100 million views (18 days) and 200 million views (53 days), setting a new record for the shortest time to achieve this feat among K-Pop group debut music videos, while “Stuck In The Middle,” a ballad song without a performance, reached 100 million views in just 38 days.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER released their first mini album ‘BABYMONS7ER’ at midnight on the 1st. They plan to become more familiar to domestic fans through music programs, broadcasting activities, and fan signing events. They will also meet global fans through a fan meeting tour starting in Tokyo, Japan, and extending to Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan; and Bangkok, Thailand, as well as participating in Japan’s largest music festival, ‘Summer Sonic 2024’.
