YG PLUS to Become a Music and Album Distributor for THE BLACK LABEL Led by TEDDY

YG PLUS

YG PLUS will serve as a music and album distributor for THE BLACK LABEL. 

 

YG PLUS (037270, CEO Min-Suk Yang), engaging in music distribution and MD business, announced on October 20th that the company signed a distribution agreement spanning music and label content with THE BLACK LABEL, an entertainment management company under YG Group. 

 

Created back in March 2016 as an associate company of YG Entertainment, THE BLACK LABEL has Zion. T, Somi, R.Tee, Vince and other stylish and unique artists as well as TEDDY who is heading the company. TEDDY, YG’s lead producer and a hit maker, has produced a number of songs for such artists as BLACKPINK, iKON, BIGBANG, G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, and JENNIE. Zion. T is a renowned musician who gained popularity for his songs ‘May’, ‘No Make Up’, ‘Yanghwa Bridge’, and ‘Eat’ while Somi, who was the recognized center of the girl group I.O.I, got highly popular with her songs ‘What You Waiting For’, and ‘BIRTHDAY’, and is evolving as a global artist signed up to Interscope, a music label under Universal Music. 

 

YG PLUS launched its album and music content distribution business in 2018 and has since expanded its business territory by acquiring music distribution rights from YG Entertainment and other labels across wide-ranging music genres. With a focus on the distribution of hip hop, R&B, and soul music, the company has formed partnerships with nearly 200 labels and artists to date to broaden its scope of album and music distribution.  

 

Last July, the company also founded YG PLUS Music Content Lab LLC as a special purpose company (SPC) to focus more on securing music content and investing in labels across a variety of genres, continuing with its aggressive advancement into investment and distribution business. 

 

YG PLUS noted that “We will forge ever-closer partnerships with labels that work with artists known for their great potential, and promote strategic alliances with global platform companies to further commit ourselves to distribution business to assist our partner labels and artists in enhancing their value proposition, promoting well-made content, and supporting their marketing efforts”. 

 

YG PLUS initiated its album and music distribution business in 2018 and has since endeavored to expand its distribution business both in Korea and abroad. The company ranked third with 8.7% in market share in the domestic album distribution industry according to the Gaon Album Chart report published last September.
